Just a Hello; And a Ramble About This and That
Well summer is seriously on the decline the past couple of weeks. It actually went strong and hot right up to and including August 31st. Then it abruptly changed and went right to cool and wet and it still is.
Because of the moist conditions we have discovered toadstools of varying kinds, sizes and shapes almost everywhere we go walking. They are under evergreen trees mostly... they must thrive in that environment. There are millions of them in groupings and some of the largest I have ever seen.
I don't carry my camera paraphenalia with me when I walk so I don't have any photos that I have personally taken but found some on the internet that resemble what we have seen.
Normally I am not interested in toadstools and mushrooms but these were so big and some different colors that they intrigued me.
We had an old and very saggy fence between our neighbour's and our back yard long before we ever arrived on the scene. We all marvelled at how that fence was still standing every summer despite all evidence to the contrary. Finally the fence was replaced this past week. Not by us but our neighbours who rent their unit had the rental company put up a new fence. We were astounded at how quickly that fence went up. It took all of two days to do and now we have a really nice division between our properties. Finally we are able to put our dog Jett out in the backyard again without fear of him running over to the neighbour's yard.
Last weekend we made a trek down to the city to do some shopping. On our way home a very young bear cub ran out in front of our car on the highway. We were forced to come to a very quick stop to avoid hitting the poor baby. This was my first bear sighting this year and I was not disappointed. I love to see the bears but always from the safety and distance of the car or from inside the house.
That is pretty much all the news I have for this time. Hope you keep checking in. I will try to be more present myself in the coming months as another fall and winter set in.
Ta Ta for now.
